BFW19 Workshop: Bookish Fun for Kids with Vanessa Shields

KIDS’ WRITING WORKSHOPS · BOOKISH FUN FOR KIDS!

Workshop length – 1.5 hours

Led by local writer and owner of Gertrude’s Writing Room Vanessa Shields, Bookish Fun For Kids Writing Workshop is the perfect place for kids to come and create while the grown-ups do their own bookish things! This is a hands-on, imagination boosting, creative writing extravaganza! During this workshop, kids will have the opportunity to dive into poetry, comics and crafts.

• Poetry

Reading poetry by big-time bookish poets like Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Margaret Atwood, Roald Dahl and more, kids will be inspired to write their own quirky and wild poetry – and then read it out loud!

• Comic Book Writing & Drawing

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Kids will discover the world of comic books and the might super-hero! Using comic book panels, pencils and imagination, kids will have the opportunity to create their own comic strip.

• Crafts

If you read, you know the importance of a cool bookmark! Kids will create bookmarks for family and friends using a variety of cool bookish crafts.
