About BookFest and Literary Arts Windsor

About BookFest Windsor

BookFest Windsor began in 2002, and in the inaugural year welcomed 450 attendees during its one-day program. Since that time, BookFest has developed partnerships with the University of Windsor, the Windsor Public Library, the Art Gallery of Windsor, the local elementary and secondary schools, local art and music venues, restaurants, and hospitals. In 2012, the festival was included in Canadian Geographic’s list of top literary festivals in Canada. The festival proper has grown to a three-day event, with multiple lead-up activities, presentations and workshops. Attendance at Bookfest events have numbered in the thousands. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization, but all invited artists are paid an honorarium according to Canada Council recommendations.

It is our policy to provide a safe space for presenters and the audience. Our venues are accessible.

We encourage patrons to become members to get access to most* Literary Arts Windsor events, including BookFest Windsor.

*excluding events with meals
