Literary Arts Windsor: Promotion, Performance, Publishing (LAW-PPP), incorporated in 2002, is the parent organization of BookFest Windsor. The mandate of LAW-PPP is to educate and increase the public's understanding and appreciation of the arts by providing performances and seminars for the general public. The most important of these events is the annual BookFest Windsor.

BookFest Windsor celebrates all facets of the book, combining author readings, interviews and signings with workshops on book arts, book collecting and publishing as well as presenting lectures on various aspects of book history and production. The festival is a celebration of the book in all forms, from the art of book binding to the joy of reading and the freedom of expression.

However, LAW-PPP is not limited to promoting authors and books solely through BookFest Windsor. LAW-PPP promotes local authors by publishing works in chapbook format, encourages performances by holding semi-regular open mic nights for authors to read from works new and old for a live audience, and supports poets in an annual poetry contest that runs in conjunction with BookFest Windsor. For LAW-PPP, the fruit of the art of creative writing is not just reading: it's also performance and discussion.

Membership Information

Literary Arts Windsor eagerly welcomes new members to become part of the organization. Members not only receive free entry to all BookFest Windsor activities and notices regarding upcoming LAW-PPP events, but are also extended voting privileges at Annual General Meetings. You can help keep our literary heritage alive and well in Windsor!

Annual membership fees are $35.00. LAW-PPP gratefully welcomes membership fees above that amount, and will issue a charitable donation receipt for income tax purposes for the amount above and beyond the basic membership fee. Donations in any amount are also gratefully accepted and an income tax receipt in the full amount can be issued in lieu of a membership.
