Terry Ann Carter

Terry Ann Carter is the author of two books of poetry: Waiting for Julia, third eye press, 1999, and Transplanted, Borealis Press, 2006. Her poems have appeared in Arc, Vallum, Dandelion, Electric Poetry Network, Carleton Arts Review, The Muse Journal, Hermitage, ottawater, Dogwood Editions, ZuZu’s Petals and forthcoming in The Windsor Review. A dozen anthologies contain her work, the most current, Pith and Wry: Canadian Poetry, Your Scrivener Press, edited by Susan McMaster. Her many chapbooks include stillness, editionsming, Montreal, 2002, and Anapanasati, Cranberry Tree Press, 1997.

As an internationally recognized haiku and tanka poet, Carter has won awards for her Japanese literary forms. She is the founder of KaDo (the way of poetry) an Ottawa haiku group that meets seasonally and launches a broadsheet each spring at the Japanese Embassy. With Marco Fraticelli, she co-edited Carpe Diem: Anthologie Canadienne Du Haiku / Canadian Anthology of Haiku, Les Editions David/Borealis Press, 2008. She was the Random Acts of Poetry poet for the city of Ottawa from 2005 -2009.
