Tim Wynne-Jones
Tim Wynne-Jones originally studied to be an architect, and pursued several other careers before becoming a writer of books for adults, young adults, and children.
His first novel Odd's End won the Seal First Novel Award, which carried a cash prize of $50,000. He has also won two Governor General Awards, the first for Some of the Kinder Planets in 1993 (a book which also won the Boston Globe Horn Book Award) and The Maestro in 1995. His books have won many other awards as well, too numerous to mention.
His Rex Zero series has been a hit with young readers, and his recent young adult novel The Uninvited has been nominated for the Indigo Teen Reads Award and the Governor General's Award, and has been called "Impossible to put down" by Philip Pullman, author of His Dark Materials.
